Recording Time
Rocks are among the most common and approachable nature subjects out there. They’re almost everywhere, from the mountains to the coast. It’s almost too obvious and probably a bit boring to try and photograph them. And yet, it’s a subject I’m always drawn to when I see it because it allows me to practice photography without putting too much pressure on the end result. I just do it for the fun of trying to come up with interesting compositions and simply work on improving how I see the world in a visually interesting manner.
Over the years, I gathered enough images to put them in a series that I titled Recording Time, as a reference to how the rocks’ structure, textures and lines can give us a glimpse into a time that’s on a different scale than ours. To further strenghten this, in most of the images, I tried to notice the interaction of rocks with more or less transient elements like light, wind, water, plants and lichens.
